Coghill Cottage
We were greeted by Bob and Annie who had opened up the cottage for us with music and luxe touches like local beer & wine, cheese & crackers and so much more. The cottage gives an incredible first impression and it lived up to it's promise through our stay. Every nook is styled with the most beautiful finishings and vintage pieces...we really felt we were somewhere special. Leading up to and throughout our three days in Whitianga, Bob and Annie were very easy to communicate with - responding to us so promptly (within minutes). We were travelling with our 18 month old which can impose some "adventure" in the best of circumstances...the extra bedroom and quiet house and neighbourhood nurtured some good sleep for everyone, happy to say. The enclosed courtyard off the dining room was also excellent (and beautiful) for some outside baby play time while we cooked her supper. We loved cooking in the kitchen which is equipped with a gas range and lovely touches and tools...trust us, you'll love it if you're a foodie. For R&R: THAT BATH ... with candles and hot water to spare to truly enjoy an enormous clawfoot soak. Our stay just wasn't long enough. You could easily get into little Whitianga town and the Coromandel area. We'd have loved a night with their private chef but only inquired into it day-of and he wasn't available - TIP for those considering it, Bob and Annie will help you with the booking. If you're looking to treat yourself, this is your spot.

Coghill Cottage
Coghill Cottage was this travel writer's dream accommodation. Bang on in the middle of Whitianga, the cottage puts the beach, cafes and shops steps from your bedroom. The impeccably-restored 1883 miner's cottage wows even before you step inside. Open the door to the courtyard, and you'll find a cozy al fresco oasis. Inside, the gourmet kitchen is chocka with upcycled wood and antique touches. And how nice to find nibbles and wine Bob and Annie left as a welcome gift. Personal touches like this made our stay extra special.
Even the bathroom commands attention with its leaded glass window, elegant lighting and clawfoot soaking tub. Bedrooms are warm, spacious and luxurious. Mattresses and linens are of the standard you might expect in a five-star hotel.
I was taking a time-out during a girls' weekend, and my well-travelled friend was equally impressed. Next time, I'll bring my husband to experience the beauty and uniqueness of Coghill Cottage.

this is a fantastic property, and the hosts' attention to detail and small touches add to the experience ! the house is very cozy... and has many beautiful pieces. lighting was on and heating was just right when we arrived (thank you!). gorgeous dining table and kitchen as a backdrop to our visit :)
bob, the house really is gorgeous. many thanks for squeezing in an extra one of us... the foldaway bed worked really well. many beautiful pieces in the house, felt lucky to have the space for our visit. my husband said to thank you for the treats - and that we thought you had excellent taste in wine and beer! was great to have a small snack to settle in when we arrived... thank you for that :)

“Staying here is something really special! The Cottage is stunningly renovated and well appointed. The design, soft lighting and attention to detail were all beautiful. The bed was amazingly comfortable, and bathroom was stunning with a claw foot tub, candles, and that shower was probably the best we've had! It was great to stay in and use the kitchen which had everything you need. The gardens and outdoor courtyard are stunning and a great place to enjoy a champagne. There's off street parking, and Annie & Bob were excellent with communication and their flexibility with check in. You won't want to leave! ”

We had a lovely getway in whitianga. The location of cottage was wonderful a day right next door to a lovely cafe as well as many restaurants within 5 minute walk. The cottage itself is incredible either amazing decor and comfortable furnishings.

The unique touches made it a really fun place to stay. The close proximity to everything was an added bonus. It was a perfect stop for our honeymoon but would be great for couples or a small family as well.

Coghill Cottage
The cottage is an absolutely beautiful little place; we couldn't have asked for better. The location is perfect for proximity to the town centre and waterfront, but the best part is coming home to a very homely and welcoming cottage where you can thoroughly relax and enjoy an amazing little home away from home. The cottage is truly 5 star, with beautiful decor and a relaxing atmosphere. Not only is the accommodation amazing but Bob and Annie were the perfect hosts. We arrived during cyclone Cook and Bob ensured we were safe and kept up to date at all times. He went over and above to make sure our stay was comfortable and enjoyable. I highly recommend this accommodation. It is absolutely wonderful and we hope to return one day. Thanks Bob and Annie for a truly memorable stay!
